The Innovation Teams Competition allows students to establish and grow entrepreneurial ventures to compete for money. Students from all majors who have an interest in entrepreneurship are competing.

Students are registered with their own business idea, and competing as a preexisting team. Or students are competing as part of a business team, and are paired with group members and a real business that is in need of innovative solutions. Either team structure is welcome, as the competition is open to everyone.

How can Innovation Teams help me?

Students can become a part of a team without having to think of a new venture idea, or having to start and run a new business while in school. Local companies, IllinoisVentures, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, and the Office for Technology Management have each supplied ventures to this competition and are anxious to mentor the student teams and utilize the completed business plans.

Teams that do have an existing business and/or product can enter as one group, formulate a business plan and compete.

Students learn entrepreneurial tools and the keys to a successful business plan from our Nascent Entrepreneur Workshop Series, in addition to team mentoring.

All teams have the opportunity to compete for monetary awards.

Students build their resumes with experiences and skills that will prepare them for a career filled with entrepreneurial opportunity. Additionally, this real-world application will position them as unique leaders when they are looking for job placement.

All entrants can network with seasoned entrepreneurs that are looking for solutions.
